The men and women of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office dedicate their lives to protecting our communities. They deserve a Sheriff who will stand beside them, provide strong leadership, and ensure they have the resources, training, and support needed to serve with confidence.
Scott Illing understands the challenges deputies face because he has walked in their shoes. His law enforcement career began as a Reserve Covington Police Officer before serving as a Louisiana State Trooper, a Supervisory Special Agent with Homeland Security Investigations, and ultimately as the United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Louisiana. At every level, he worked alongside officers and deputies who relied on professional leadership, clear direction, and mutual trust.
As Sheriff, Scott will foster a culture built on professionalism, accountability, and respect. He believes effective leadership starts by listening to those on the front lines, providing opportunities for continued training, and equipping deputies with modern technology and the tools necessary to perform their jobs safely and effectively. A well-supported deputy is better prepared to protect families, respond to emergencies, and build meaningful relationships within the community.
Scott also recognizes that morale matters. Deputies perform at their best when they know their leadership values their service, invests in their professional development, and creates an environment where excellence is recognized and expected.
Supporting deputies is ultimately about strengthening public safety. When law enforcement professionals are equipped, trained, and empowered to do their jobs, the entire parish benefits. Scott Illing is committed to creating a Sheriff's Office where every deputy has the leadership, resources, and confidence to serve with honor, while providing the citizens of St. Tammany Parish with the professional law enforcement agency they deserve.
